S. T. A. B.
(Strategies & Tactics Against Blades)
(THE ORIGINAL S. T. A. B. ANTI - EDGED WEAPONS SYSTEM)

Not taught on a commercial basis, the C. O. D. A. S. T. A. B. System was originally formulated in 1992, and has been taught to UK Police Constabularies as well as
C. O. D. A. Members.
The system works on forward pressure, as any form of pure defence against an edged weapon is a suicidal approach.
S. T. A. B. draws influences from the rest of the C. O. D. A. principles and methods, and is also very heavily influenced by the approach of WW2 instructors such as Fairbairn & Sykes. Contributors included Bill Pilkington and Les Martin. Appraisers included Col.Rex Applegate and various UK Police Officers / Trainers.

Any unarmed system against edged weapons should only ever be viewed as an insurance policy - NOT a guarantee! Running in the opposite direction, or making use of an equaliser (if running is not an option) are the two main methods of dealing with an edged weapon attack.
